The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the Obama Administration may announce the recipients of the initial $8 billion of stimulus cash for high-speed rail transit projects in the United States. Word is that the announcement will be made on Thursday in Florida, a leading contender for funds along with California and Illinois.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the Transbay JPA gets a good chunk of its requested $400 million to build the train box during Phase 1 of the Transbay Transit Center construction project. However, there were about $57 billion of grant requests from across the country chasing the $8 billion available this year.
